the nurses are surgery-based and have some common areas of overlap,
for example immunisations, dressings and patient assessments,
but each branch has certain specialities:- |
|
| Practice Nurses provide general health screening,
preliminary assessment of patients requesting urgent appointments
with a doctor, ear syringing, travel injections and advice,
tetanus injections, cervical smear test, dressing/wound care
and general advice and counselling including asthma and diabetes.
Members of the Practice Nurse team have special interests in
Triage, Asthma, Diabetes, control of long-term medication and
family planning & the well woman and will occasionally see
patients in their own homes. |
 |
|
| Community
Nurses visit housebound patients. This generally means the
elderly, the chronically sick or those who have recently had operations,
providing nursing and personal care, offering support advice and information.
Community Nurses have special interests in leg ulcer management, continence
management and palliative care and provide some surgery-based clinics. |
| Health
Visitors have specialised in child and family health, and
health promotion. They provide particular support and advice to expectant
and new mothers, run immunisation clinics, provide minor illness advice
and monitor the well-being of the growing child in clinics and at
the surgery. Health Visitors have special interests in family relationships
and child behaviour and are experienced in behavioural techniques
with young children. They will also advise on health care for other
clients such as the handicapped and elderly. |
| |
| A
Counsellor is available for those patients requiring extra
time and help to work at specific problems. Referrals via GP's or
other team members. |
| |
| THE ADMIN
TEAM |
| Make
appointments, raise general queries, obtain test results, and
other information including waiting list details from our Receptionists
and Admin Team, who are there to ensure your visit to the surgery
is as pleasant as possible. They keep strict confidence so please
give them as much information as possible, enabling them to
deal with your individual needs quickly, efficiently and sympathetically
