The Southbroom Surgery, formed by the amalgamation of two small
long-established Devizes practices, opened in April 1991. The surgery
building was part new-build, and part a conversion of the old Chivers
building firms' offices. The partnership developed from an association
between two single-handed practices, which were situated at opposite
ends of the town. We became fundholders in 1994. In April 1996 the
three town practices joined with two outlying village practices to
form the Devizes Doctors' Co-operative based at Devizes Community
Hospital. During 1999, the surgery premises were extended to provide
additional consulting rooms and a lift to all floors.
Southbroom Surgery is under contract to Wiltshire Primary Care Trust to provide Personal Medical Services.
